Diagnosis: Shoulder & Arm Pain
Shoulder and arm pain ranges from a mild ache to acute pain that restricts the use of the injured arm. It can sometimes extend to other joints in the body and may be accompanied by fatigue, fever, insomnia, numbness or a tingling sensation.
What causes shoulder and arm pain?
Broken bones or dislocations - after heavy impacts
Strained tendons or ligaments - can occur when overlifting, overreaching, overexerting, or resting your arm/shoulder in an awkward position (for example, while sleeping)
Referred pain - pain in the shoulder or arm may be referred from nerves associated with the joints in the upper spine or 'trigger points' in the back
Other - from conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, gout and tendonitis
How can a chiropractor help?
Chiropractic treatment is a non-surgical means of relieving shoulder and arm pain through regular spinal adjustment. Chiropractic adjustments can relieve pain and help to restore function and range of motion to affected areas.
During an initial consultation, our chiropractors are able to determine if your condition is: a) minor and treatable, or b) more serious and requiring intensive, extended treatment or referral to a specialist. Alongside chiropractic adjustment and physical therapy sessions, we can also help you supplement your recovery through specific prescribed physical exercises and nutritional advice.
